Test Scores
Still Matter

Especially at selective colleges and especially for homeschoolers!

More than 1,450 colleges and universities are now test-optional.

But if you want an edge in the admissions game, you still need to submit standardized test scores.

"Admissions officers said, those who submitted files without [test] scores were often less competitive across multiple measures." — WSJ

They also rely more heavily on test scores from homeschoolers to verify the accuracy of self-reported transcript grades.

Here are two exceptions:

📖 If applying to private liberal arts colleges that truly prefer other metrics

🎯 If the student's scores are not in or above the college's 50% target range

Colleges will assume your student's scores are below 📉 their target range if not submitted with the application.
