Community Colleges
are Affordable, but...
If your goal is getting a bachelor's degree, you should know some of the down sides of attending a community college.
While nearly half of the states' community colleges now offer bachelors' degrees, most students plan to start there and transfer to a 4-year college.
If this is your plan, research the transferability of credits; because rather than saving on tuition you might end up paying more!
States like CA, FL, & NY have strong articulation agreements that formalize the transfer of associate's credits to bachelor's programs. Some even guarantee admission into the state university system, but many 4-year colleges do not accept such credits.
It's also important to remain involved throughout your student's college years to ensure that they join the 13% that actually graduate with a bachelor's degree.
